Pudge’s Story
Pudge and his sister Tillie were adopted together on New Year’s Day 2018. Also known as Pudding, he was the biggest, strongest green‑cheeked conure, a little greyer on top, and the king of the cage. Nobody could tell Pudge what to do.
The Adventurous Leader
From day one, Pudge was the most adventurous leader of the parrot gang, always jumping head‑first into the unknown. He and Tillie quickly united and became a team. They raced across the rooftop, rumbling and chasing each other in spirited play. They smacked each other down in wild play‑fights, sometimes so intense that even the referee couldn’t stay neutral and joined in.
After a long first week getting used to their new home, Pudge and Tillie would snuggle down together for the night. Their daily routine was the sacred trinity of conure life: play, preen, nap - and repeat.
The Boss Meets the Baby
When Chip, the Baby Borb, arrived on 3rd February 2018, Pudge was already established as The Boss. During the great flock merge, Tillie (the second‑in‑command, hid inside the cage to prevent conflict, Pudge bravely met the newcomer outside. The meeting went well.
Pudge didn’t always play nice with the new baby. He was caught stomping on Chip in what can only be described as a musical of tiny tyranny. But eventually the three birds found their rhythm, partying around the cage together until the break of dawn. They shared millet, with Pudge and Tillie pecking away while Chip rested nearby.
The Great Breakout & Beyond
After doing hard time for a failed heist, Pudge joined Chip and Tillie in a daring breakout. They escaped the slammer and headed for high ground as the tide rolled in, a true conure caper.
Realising he was too genetically similar to Tillie, as they were siblings, Pudge was rehomed. He went to his forever home on 19 May 2018, where he now lives happily with a gorgeous turquoise green‑cheeked conure companion. See his image above with his new friend - Pudge is camera-shy, hiding at the back.
And even though he’s moved on, Pudge’s legacy as king of the cage lingers, unchallenged.
“I’m still the king of the cage.”
